The majority (63%) of healthcare organizations, whether biopharmaceutical or medtech, already have connected health products on the market or in development. This is evident from the latest Capgemini Research Institute report titled “The Connected Health Revolution,” according to which three out of five healthcare organizations are developing a roadmap for integrating generative AI, and more than half are already testing this technology to interact with patients and care professionals. Although healthcare organizations expect connected health to contribute more than a fifth of their total revenue within five years, a lack of basic data capabilities may hinder this goal.
Spain is a little behind
Regarding Spain, the report reveals that 20% of healthcare organization leaders realize that they have already approved connected health products in the market, ranking lower than their global counterparts (27%). Furthermore, 33% admitted that they are still developing these products, while 47% are still in the design phase of connected health strategies.
Generative AI has the potential to contribute across the entire healthcare value chain. In this way, 67% of national healthcare organizations are focused on creating a roadmap for generative AI, and 53% of them are still in the tool analysis phase for this technology.
When it comes to data operations maturity, four out of ten organizations surveyed lack robust data management capabilities. Thus, 60% of healthcare organizations report that they are advanced in data modeling and analysis, and 40% reveal that they have made progress in ensuring security and aggregating data from different datasets.
Six out of ten healthcare organizations collaborate with IT service providers, including IT service providers for data or cloud platforms, consulting, strategic planning, and think tanks.
In contrast to what happens globally, 67% of Spanish healthcare managers prefer to hire talent with digital skills, while 53% prefer to upskill their current workforce.
