Paris, 15 June (EFE). – France’s annual inflation rate rose to 5.2% in May, four-tenths more than in April, which is mainly explained by the acceleration in energy prices and to a lesser extent by those of services, food and manufactured products.
The National Institute of Statistics (INSEE) on Wednesday presented final results for last month’s inflation, which crossed the 5% threshold for the first time since September 1985.
In a statement, the National Institute of Statistics and Information highlighted that the increase observed in May was primarily due to energy, with a 27.8% drawdown in twelve months (the annual rise was 26.5% in April).
In services, progress in twelve months rose to 3.2% in May compared to 3% in April; in food by 4.3%, compared to 3.8%; And in manufactured products, it increased by 3% compared to 2.6%.
Core inflation, which excludes (usually more volatile) energy and food prices, also rose to 3.7% in May, five-tenths more than it was in April. EFE
