Former Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, died Friday at the age of 79 in Barcelona, Spain.He remained in hospital after suffering a heart attack on June 23.
And the Angolan presidency confirmed, through social networking sites, that the former president, who ruled the African country between 1979 and 2017, “was a unique figure in the Angolan homeland.”
The statement confirms that Dos Santos played an important role in the “anti-colonial struggle, in the conquest of national independencein the consolidation of the Angolan nation, and its assertion in the sphere of nations”, as well as in “the achievement of peace, reconstruction and national reconciliation”.
