The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for relaxation to be avoided in compliance with measures to deal with monkeypox and Covid-19.
Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization, explained that the decline in the number of cases in Europe puts the continent in a position of greater risk, where many people could be neglected and transmission of the two diseases occurs.
He stressed that “Europe will have to live with Covid-19 but not with monkeypox, as long as it takes the necessary measures to control, stop and eliminate its transmission, because the disease is endemic in any country.” Seventy-second meeting of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe.
He warned that a third of Europe’s population is still not immune to Covid-19, 25% of health workers and 20% of the elderly.
“These gaps in vaccination are dangerous for everyone,” said the Director-General of the World Health Organization.
