group 1France, winner of the second edition of the UEFA Nations League in 2021, unexpectedly finds itself two points behind Austria at the bottom of the standings. On the other hand, Denmark is two points ahead of Croatia in first place with two matches remaining.

group 2Spain are yet to be defeated in their four matches, but only one point separates them from second-placed Portugal, which they will face in Braga in the sixth round. On the other hand, Switzerland is one point behind the Czech Republic in last place in the group.

Group 3Surprisingly, Hungary finds itself at the top of the group that seemed to be the most difficult, even though Germany is only one point behind Germany, and Italy is one point behind the German national team. England, who have not yet won, fall into the relegation zone.

How does League A of the UEFA Nations League 2022/23 work

League “A” consists of 16 teams, divided into four groups of four. Teams play their group rivals both on home and away in June and September 2022. The top four teams from League A groups will advance to the final knockout stage in June 2023. Teams finishing fourth will be relegated to League Two.

Five of the eight third-round matches ended in a draw in League A. Pablo Sarabia’s early goal in Switzerland gave Spain their first win, Portugal beat the Czech Republic with relative ease, and Mario Pasalic’s goal for Croatia ended Denmark’s perfect start in Group A1.

Haris Seferovic scored in the first minute of Switzerland’s home win over Portugal, and there was another surprise in Saint-Denis, where Luka Modric’s early penalty kick gave Croatia victory over France.
