Some areas inside the royal residences reopened to tourists on Thursday, including the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, Holyrood House and the Queen’s Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, according to the Royal Collection Trust. However, the State and Royal Mews rooms at Buckingham Palace will not reopen this year.
In addition, special exhibitions marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Palace of Holyroodhouse will not reopen to the public.

An image of Elizabeth II’s tombstone was published a day after Buckingham Palace shared a new photo of King Charles III signing papers from the king’s signature red box.
The photo was taken by PA Images of Great Britain and shows Carlos carrying out some of his errands last week.
“The photograph was taken in the 18th century room at Buckingham Palace last week and shows His Majesty the King performing official government duties from the King’s Red Fund,” the palace said in a statement.
The red boxes contain important documents from UK government ministers and representatives United Nations Association and beyond.
“The documents are sent from the private secretary’s office to the king, wherever he is, in a closed red box,” she added.
In the background of the King’s portrait, you can see another black and white photo of the late King and Duke of Edinburgh, which was the couple’s Christmas gift from King George VI in 1951.
The royal family will celebrate another week of mourning after the state funeral at the king’s request. Charles III has now reportedly returned to Scotland with the Queen consort to mourn in private.
