DOHA, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina) With surgical precision in strokes, brush selection and colours, artist Maisel López has printed his art in this capital to put today’s Cuba on the Qatar 2022 soccer world map.

His gigantic statue – a series of childhood-inspired murals – has broken the barriers of distance and found space on Arabian soil to bring a magical and unusual touch to the atmosphere ahead of the anticipated sporting event.

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, the painter explained that the work depicts two children: one from Qatar and the other from Cuba, with symbols for both countries and an allegorical football for the upcoming World Cup in discipline.

After two weeks of hustle and bustle, the project emerged thanks to the cultural exchange between the two regions, revealing via Facebook before delving into that his idea had been chosen from among several proposals from the island’s creators.

After graduating from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, Lopez began his artistic career at the age of fourteen: “I loved drawing, I spent hours in this activity, and at the age of fifteen I started really drawing, with materials and everything I needed.”

Known to many as a children’s painter, superstitions arise around his creations, but the heroes of great portraits live and some are no longer those little ones who remember the “madman” who is able to take dozens of shots and transform their faces into art

Also, this creator does not imagine his life without conveying what he knows and directing people of different ages to the world of plastic arts, so that they can exploit their talents or develop their aesthetic sensitivity as spectators.

I am honored to contribute a seed of sand to strengthening the friendship between Cuba and Qatar,” wrote on September 19 on his personal page on the aforementioned social network.

The 22nd FIFA Men’s World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18 in eight stadiums, with 32 national teams in attendance and the French team ready to renew the title won in Russia 2018.
