1817 – Jose Marple
Writer and poet José Marmol, founder of the newspaper La Semana, was born in Buenos Aires. Among his works are Amalia, Los cantos del peregrino, and El cruzado.
1905 – Osvaldo Pugliese
Pianist, composer and conductor Osvaldo Pugliese, a tango figure whose works include La Yumba, Pipa, Negracha and Malandraca, was born in Buenos Aires.
1951 – Manuel Ugarte
At the age of 76, diplomat, socialist politician, journalist and writer Manuel Palmero Ugarte, defender of the cause of Latin American independence, died in the French city of Nice. Founder and editor of La Patria newspaper and Vida de hoy magazine.
1979 – old gas gauge
The last match is played at the legendary Gasómetro de Boedo. It was a goalless draw for local San Lorenzo de Almagro against Boca Juniors at La Plata Stadium between Inclan and Las Casas Streets.
1987 – Louis F. lilor
Physician, biochemist and pharmacologist Luis Federico Leloir, who won the 1970 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research on how sugars are metabolized in the body and the role they play in production, died in Buenos Aires at the age of 81 from carbohydrates.
1993 – Pablo Escobar
Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, responsible for the bloody attacks and assassinations of politicians and journalists, died in the city of Medellin (Antioquia, Colombia), in a confrontation with the security forces. A day earlier, on December 1, he turned 44 years old.
2007 – Champion Lanos
Led by Ramón Cabrero, Lanús won the 2007 Apertura tournament, their first top-flight championship, with a 1-1 draw against Boca Juniors at La Bombonera. Former River Plate striker Jose Sand scored a goal for “Al-Agate”, while Martin Palermo equalized for Buckins.

2019 – Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi, Barcelona’s Spanish striker, captain of the Argentine national team, won the Golden Ball award for the sixth time, becoming the player who was crowned with it more than Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo once.
2022 – Abolition of slavery
The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is celebrated in commemoration of the 1949 year in which the United Nations ratified the Convention for the Suppression of the Trafficking and Exploitation in Persons.
