Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ntumbo Nandi Ndayitwah, arrived in Venezuela on Sunday for an official visit with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation, an official source said.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement that the presence of the Namibian official is part of the strategic priority that the administration of President Nicolas Maduro gives to African countries.
The press release added that Venezuela’s Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Yuri Pimentel, was responsible for receiving the Deputy Prime Minister at Simon Bolivar International Airport.
On March 3, 2021, Venezuelan President Nandy Ndayituah awarded him the Order of Francisco de Miranda, First Class, in recognition of his struggle for the independence of the southern African country.
Nandi Ndayituah has served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (1990-1996), Minister of Equality and Child Welfare (2000-2005), Information and Communications (2005-2008), and Environment and Tourism (2008-2012).
Venezuela and Namibia signed an agreement on May 22, 1990 establishing diplomatic relations. The statement indicated that up to that date, they had signed 11 cooperation mechanisms covering the fields of energy, mining, science and culture.
