RA12’s terrible season culminated in them becoming the first team to be eliminated in Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente in Puerto Rico, despite defeating Cangrejeros de Santurce 6-1, since a win for Indios de Mayagüez leaves them without mathematical odds to reach fourth in the standings.
Evan Hollimont pitched five innings and two-thirds on just four hits and ran with five homers to win the game for RA12, while Ryan Lidge is 5-2 with two and three RBIs and Yadiel Rivera is 4-3 on offense with two scored and one pull.
In Mayagüez, José Barrero went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs and Jeremy Rivera went 1-for-4 with RBIs, propelling the Indios de Mayagüez to a 9-2 win over the Criollos de Caguas.
In Ponce, superstar Greg Minier completed seven innings with five hits and two runs, while Jesmuel Valentín went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs and Dairon Blanco went 2-for-5 with two RBIs to guide Leones de Ponce to a comfortable 9-3 win over Carolina Giants.
Criollos retain the lead with 26-14, followed by Gigantes (22-18), Cangreiros (22-19), Indios (21-18), Leon (19-20) and RA12 (9-30).
