Google – and Android – have some parental control options that aim to limit the content that minors can see on their mobile phone or browser, and one of those options is SafeSearch.

This option is able to filter all the results of your browser searches to prevent them from showing explicit content, and you should activate it if you have children.

In addition, Google includes this option not only in Android but also in Google Chrome and Android TV, so you can configure it on all the devices within your children’s reach.

There are various ways to activate SafeSearch on Google, and the truth is that it is a good idea to do it if you are in charge of a minor’s phone or if you have minor children. You must follow these steps:

  • Open the Google app.
  • Click on the profile picture.
  • Hit settings.
  • Turn on SafeSearch.

If you see that a lock appears on the SafeSearch icon, it is because you do not have permission to modify its settings so you must contact your device administrator to do so.

You’ll have to activate it manually on your kids’ phone or through the Family Link parental control app, although it’s interesting to know that if Google thinks you might be under 18, it will activate the option automatically.

You can also access your browser’s setting through this link, which will take you directly to the option so you can activate or deactivate it as you wish.

To activate the option on Android TV, you will have to go to Settings and once you click on Preferences, then on Search and there you will already have the Safe Search filter option.
