Samsung Electronics announced that it has been recognized for excellence in design at the 2023 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), which includes one Silver Award, three Bronze Awards, as well as 46 outstanding finalists.

IDEA is one of the most prestigious design awards programs in the world and is organized by the Industrial Designers Association of America (IDSA). Founded in 1980, IDEA recognizes achievements in industrial design. This year, IDEA has selected winners in 20 categories, including home, consumer technology, and digital interaction. Key evaluation criteria also include design innovation, user usefulness, societal benefit, and more.

Samsung’s design reflects the company’s evolving values ​​and innovative technologies. As a result, the company has been recognized for its design excellence that focuses on lifestyle and consumer experiences.

Samsung received the Silver Award for the following Outstanding Product:

  • A laundry detergent that caters to consumers who want faster and easier laundry care, the Bespoke AirDresser uses artificial intelligence to provide a more convenient and hygienic laundry handling experience.

Samsung received three bronze awards for the following harmonious designs:

  • The custom water purifier features an integrated design that installs the water filtration unit under the sink and blends in with the kitchen space by allowing the customer to choose the faucet color that best suits their preferences and tastes.

  • The Bespoke AI™ laundry features an ergonomic integrated washer and dryer design, a slot height that anyone can comfortably use, and a control panel that can operate both the washer and dryer.

  • The Bespoke Jet Bot AI+ improves autonomous driving functions through intelligent AI control and by recognizing and marking obstacles using 3D sensors.

From product to user experience design, a total of 50 awards for TVs, home appliances and smartphones

In the Product category, a wide range of Samsung designs were selected as finalists, including:

  • The new QLED 8K TV, is a TV that produces an immersive experience with an infinite screen.
  • Solarcell remote control, a TV remote control that has a solar panel for convenient charging instead of disposable batteries.

In other categories, Samsung’s designs with accessibility and the environment in mind were selected as outstanding finalists, including:

  • Gesture UX, which enables control of TV screens and subtitles based on hand gesture recognition to enhance the viewing experience for hearing impaired users.
  • Samsung Space Tycoon, a virtual space simulation and management game on the Roblox metaverse platform where users can create, play and share experiences using Samsung products.
