The delegation of the largest Antilles islands, headed by Public Health Minister José Ángel Portal, will exchange experiences aimed at strengthening health systems, according to the official account of the Cuban government in X.

Before the event began, Portal attended the Inter-American and World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Ministers of Health meeting, where the need to work together to achieve universal access to health care was discussed.

The Cuban President spoke in detail on the social network about the election of the Caribbean country to join the General Committee of the AMS.

Portal also held meetings on Monday with his counterpart from the Maldives, Abdullah Khalil, and from Qatar, Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, where he affirmed with them his readiness to continue expanding relations related to medical cooperation.

The 77th World Health Assembly will focus on key issues for this sector, such as preparedness for future pandemics and the impact of climate change on human well-being.

The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of the World Health Organization and its main functions are to determine the organization’s policies, appoint the Director-General, oversee financial policies, and review and approve the proposed program budget.
