Federico Valverde has answered whether he will change his shirt number for next season with Real Madrid.
After winning the 2023/24 Champions League on Saturday at Wembley Stadium against Borussia Dortmund, Valverde spoke on Real Madrid TV and was asked if he was sure about changing his number after the Merengues became European champions for the 15th time in their story.
“The 15th is so beautiful, especially now. My wife said to me, ‘Everyone wants your shirt!’“, he began, standing between laughs.
“It was very nice to be able to get this shirt,” he added. This was the number with which I started my dream and my time at Real Madrid..
“I will definitely change in a couple of months, however You finished this stage well“, said the Uruguayan who was already under pressure from Toni Kroos to take the number 8 left by the German who on Saturday played his last match for Real Madrid.
It should be remembered that Valverde also plays for the Uruguay national team with the number 15, and that in the Sub 20 team in 2017 he wore the number 16 shirt, although in the Sub 17 team (2015) he wore the number 8.
