Cuba condemns the United States’ intention to strangle the Venezuelan economy

Havana, June 15 (ACN) Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, today condemned the United States’ intention to divest Venezuela of Citgo Oil Corporation.

The Cuban Foreign Minister confirmed in his account

He stated that the American position is a clear violation of international law.

“We condemn the repeated intention of the United States government to divest Venezuela of its company CITGO, in clear violation of international law. This action is part of Washington’s strategy to stifle the Venezuelan economy and defeat the Bolivarian and Chavismo revolution.”

The deadline for receiving offers in the second round of bidding opened by the US Federal Court examining the Citgo Petroleum case ended last Tuesday.

From that moment on, the auction of shares of the parent company of the Citgo Petroleum refinery, a subsidiary of the state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela, headquartered in Houston, Texas, began.

Venezuela is asking the US Federal Court to stop the sale of shares of the South American state-owned Citgo Petroleum company.

In 1990, Venezuela completed the purchase of Citgo, a company that currently controls three refineries, markets gasoline, and also owns several petrochemical plants in the United States.
