Vietnam’s capital aims to create zero-emission bus fleet

Must Read

According to the business forecast, the Vietnamese capital will have, for the period 2026-2030, 50 percent of electric buses, especially those deployed in central urban areas, and the same number of vehicles powered by clean fuels, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) or compressed natural gas (CNG).

Initial estimates indicate that achieving this transformation alone will require approximately $1.79 billion.

By 2030, 70 to 90 percent of diesel buses will be replaced with clean energy buses, and by 2035 all buses in the city will be electric, achieving a zero-emission fleet.

Green Bus, an electric smart bus produced by Vinfast, began public transport service in Hanoi in 2021 with three routes, with six more routes to be added in 2022.

These buses use green and environmentally friendly energy, and are equipped with a system that applies comprehensive Internet of Things (IoT) technology, travel and security cameras, free high-speed Wi-Fi and entertainment screen.
