This Saturday, the Argentine men’s softball team scored two new victories and completed a perfect run in Group B of the World Cup. In the tournament in Prince Albert, Canada, Singapore went undefeated in the finals of the tournament, beating New Zealand 4-1 and thrashing Singapore 15-0.
As China did with Hong Kong on Friday, Argentina sealed the match against Singapore in three innings. This time Theo Migliavacca and Lucio Redamar were delighted to hit two homeruns to put Argentina ahead of the Asian team.
Migliavacca (two races), Federico Eder (two), Juan Jara (one), Manuel Godoi (three), Ladislav Malarchuk (two), Federico Ohlheiser (two), Retmar (two) and Luciano Biondi (one) were the delights. In this match you have to turn the diamond.
Then came the second toughest game in the group stage after Canada (2-0 win): Argentina faced New Zealand. The tussle required seven innings and demanded a huge effort from Argentina’s pitchers, who allowed only the first run against the opposition in the sixth inning.
Argentina took the lead in the second inning after a single to left by Federico Ohlheiser, a run by Ladislav Malarchuk, made it 1-0. Then until the sixth inning, the pitchers’ play prevailed.
Up top, Argentina allowed runs from Juan Jara and his own after Manuel Godoy struck at the bottom of center field. Olheiser then scored again on a Malarchuk run, driving down the right side of the field to make the score 4–0 in favor of Argentina.
The first run against Argentina came after Cole Evans scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. As he threw deep to the left side, he traveled the entire diamond to score his run and grace the scoreboard, which did not move in the final innings.
It was a 4-1 win for Argentina, who finished Group B unbeaten and have a double chance of booking a ticket to the 2025 finals.
