Health allocates 3 million for health, biomedical and public health research

Valencia (EFE). The Ministry of Health, through the Directorate General for Research and Innovation, has allocated three million euros to finance activities in the field of human resources to strengthen research and training in the field of health, biomedical and public health research.

According to the mandate, these grants are allocated to entities and institutions in the public sector of the community that manage the research activity of health departments and centers and services outside the departments of the Ministry of Health.

These institutions conduct their biomedical research in collaboration with hospitals and health centers of the public health network. They are therefore key entities for conducting clinical trials on humans and promoting basic, translational and clinical research lines.

Director General of Research and Innovation, Mariola PenadesHe pointed out that “in order to provide better solutions and more resources to treat all citizens, health research is an essential element to improve and continue to develop the quality of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.”

In this sense, Penades explained that to align this research with the needs of healthcare, “it is necessary to strategically coordinate the research work carried out in the institutions and research institutes present in the Valencian Community.”

Benades stressed that “it is necessary to strengthen actions related to research, development and innovation that allow research to be put at the service of patient care and health protection, i.e. to promote translational research.”

The grants awarded are as follows: La Fe University Research Foundation and Polytechnic Hospital of the Valencian Community Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe), €646,559; Valencian Community Health Promotion and Biomedical Research Foundation (FISABIO), €593,922; and Valencian Community Foundation for the Management of the Alicante Health and Biomedical Research Institute (ISABIAL), €517,388.

Likewise, €543,290 will be allocated to the Valencian Community Hospital Research Foundation (INCLIVA); the Principe Felipe Research Centre Foundation (FCIPF), €429,478; the Valencian General University Hospital Research Foundation (FHGUV), €227,546; and the Castellón Regional Hospital Foundation (FHPrCs), €41,817.
