At around 1:23 pm, on its social media accounts, Banco Pichincha reported that a cybersecurity incident partially disrupted some of its services. Over the weekend, dozens of customers expressed unease at not being able to access the bank’s website or apps.
“In the past hours, we have identified an incident related to cybersecurity in our computer systems that partially disrupted our services. We have taken immediate actions such as isolating potentially affected systems from the rest of our network and having cybersecurity experts in place to assist in the investigation,” the statement said.
According to the entity, its network of agencies and ATMs operates for cash withdrawals and payments with debit and credit cards. However, clients who went to bank agencies expressed their dissatisfaction because they were unable to carry out their procedures.
In the statement, Banku Pichincha called for calm to avoid crowding and to avoid the spread of false rumours. At the moment, they are under investigation into the cyber incident that affected some of their services. (I)
