A Miami man won a million dollars in the Florida lottery. The entity reports that the lucky man purchased his ticket after stopping to do some shopping at a local supermarket.The man has been identified as Amaury Valdez, 51, and won the $1 million prize with a Monopoly Doubler scratcher game.
As is known, lottery winners can choose between receiving the total amount divided into parts over several years, or a single payment with a lower number. Valdez decided to take his award as a one-time payment of $798,985.
The store where the winning ticket was sold will also be rewarded, as always. The Florida Lottery gives its owners $2,000.
Monopoly Doubler Scratch-Off tickets are $20. The website of the aforementioned entity reads that it has four remaining major prizes of $5 million and seven prizes of $1 million remaining.
Another Scratch-Off winner in Florida
A few days ago, it was also reported that another man residing in Lakeland, Florida, had won a scratch from Monopoly Doubler.
Curtis Murphree, 54, bought a $20 ticket and won a whopping $5 million. The lucky winner collected their prize at the Tampa County Lottery office.
Murphree preferred to receive the money in one go, so the number was less than the prize won: $3,994,698.
Lottery officials said the man purchased his ticket at the Harney Road Mexican Market, located at 10228 Harney Road, in Thonotosassa, Hillsborough County. For this reason, the place will receive a $10,000 commission.
As reported by the Florida Lottery, these games contribute to educational expenditures across the state. Gambling brings in over $1 billion for the Education Improvement Trust Fund.
