Cool already speaks our language
By: Adriana Noreña, Vice President of Latin America, Google
The development of artificial intelligence, which Google has been developing for more than 7 years in multiple products, different platforms and applications, is gaining leaps and bounds. In my nearly 18 years at Google, I’ve had the same feeling of amazement many times when technology impacts our lives by enabling us, overnight, to do things that seemed impossible before they happened. It happened to me when we introduced Google Maps, when we launched Translator, or when a scientist was able to launch an image search with Google Lens. But without a doubt, the biggest impact has been with the arrival of Bard, our new experimental conversational tool that is based on generative AI and is already available in more than 40 languages, including, since last July 13, Spanish.

Audacity and responsibility
Recently, Sundar Pichai, global CEO of Google, said that artificial intelligence represents a deeper change for humanity than fire or electricity. And I think he’s right. But precisely for this reason, it is absolutely necessary to develop this technology With equal doses of daring and responsibility.
Many of Google’s products that were previously launched in beta and are now fully integrated into our daily lives have built their success on use and frequency. Over time, it has been gradually refined to make the lives of millions of people easier.
Tool more perfect than perfect
Bard is no exception, and despite the fact that it is already being used by thousands of people around the world, it is still an experimental tool, more than perfect.
Built from years of research and development, and from Google’s own technologies that form the basis of many of the AI solutions we know today, Bard is a unique ally when it comes to satisfying our curiosity, Enhancing our creativity and developing our productivity, but it will gradually increase its capabilities as more people help this tool to learn.
We have said many times at Google that the development of artificial intelligence is more like a long-winded marathon than a short sprint. in that exciting marathon, Bard is making steady progress, in line with the strong ethical principles we set out a few years ago.and thanks to the support of Google’s interdisciplinary team called TASC (Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Society, and Culture), which deals with AI with specialists from different fields to keep it on track and with the integration of different perspectives.
Artificial intelligence is beneficial to everyone in the world
Being able to use Bard in our own language, Spanish, and ask for things as diverse as writing an email, learning to do new things or helping us put together a presentation is an unprecedented leap and for Google a new step forward in our goal of putting AI at the service of everyone In the world.
However, I am convinced that we will not be able to achieve this goal on our own. We have to work together, which is why I’m leaving the invitation open for us to use Bard in SpanishIt is my hope that our Spanish-speaking community will put it to the test, and we hope that we can all be an active part of this vibrant and challenging moment for humanity. A good way of proof is to ask the Bard to make a summary of this article, right?
Together, we can make AI a useful tool to advance our understanding of the world, fuel our creativity, and help businesses and organizations across Latin America grow and transform digitally.
