It has received 9 million liters of fuel from Neste, which is manufactured in Singapore
Air New Zealand, with its historic collaboration with Neste, will make the largest purchase of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by an airline outside of North America and Europe.
The contract, which is scheduled to be awarded by the end of 2024, marks a significant step in the aviation industry's search for sustainable alternatives.
Nine million liters of SAF produced at Neste's refinery in Singapore, blended with conventional jet fuel to meet the required specifications, will be delivered to Los Angeles International Airport between April 1 and November 30, 2024.
Neste's Singapore refinery expanded its SAF production capacity last year, highlighting growth and investment in the sector.
This commitment reflects Air New Zealand's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and moving towards a more sustainable operation.
Alexander Kuber, Vice President Renewable Aviation at Neste, expressed the company's commitment to its collaboration with partners such as Air New Zealand to accelerate the decarbonisation of aviation and the use of SAF. The alliance demonstrates the growing collaboration between organizations with similar visions to advance the delivery and use of SAF globally.
