Representatives of all Balearic Islands Parliament groups yesterday signed the Charter for Emotional Well-Being and Mental Health of the Balearic Islands, according to which they undertake to promote policies in this area in coordination with the rest of the relevant institutions and agents.
He signed the Act first thing in the morning before the plenary session of Parliament. The Chamber’s president, Vicente Tomas, stated that this agreement is the result of “a good joint effort by all to facilitate the development of healthy citizens”.
Thus, the groups unanimously agreed on the need to adhere to a consensus that includes all citizens and various social elements to jointly confront mental health problems and try to limit their impact.
The charter aims to ensure institutional overlap and inclusiveness of care, avoiding duplication and tightly controlled processes.
As they recall in the document, mental health problems “have long, difficult and complex treatments that require joint action and from different biases: educational, social, relational, health, etc.”
Impact on young people
The text has a particular focus on children and young adults, as well as on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on emotional well-being.
The company should facilitate close coordination of the resources and professionals involved, with the active participation of the person and their family, and “encourage early detection and intervention before the situation becomes more complex.”
