Ivo and Karu, an Argentinian couple living in New Zealand went to a local kiosk to buy products from their country, only to find the price was higher than they expected. All reflected in a viral TikTok video.
“How much does it hurt to be Argentine in New Zealand?”, the youth from @ivoykaru asked themselves on TikTok, which has already accumulated more than 300,000 views.
They got the idea because they were craving alfajores and ran out of herbs on their anniversary. So… What better way to celebrate love in a land far away than to stock up on Argentinian products?

“I know what it is, it’s very valuable. I lived in another country for years, but don’t believe it, everything is very expensive here in Argentina,” explained another.
“Are the salaries there expensive?” Someone asked them, to which they replied: “No, not for the salary, but it is garibela (expensive) compared to the produce here.”

Who is Evo and Karu?
Both Ivo and Karu are travel influencers who showcase everything they do in New Zealand these days. Interests in the country, what the customs are like there, prices or strange places. They currently have more than 68,000 followers and almost 459 likes on TikTok.
In another video of them going shopping, they explain that New Zealand supermarkets won’t sell alcohol (beer, in their case) to Argentines unless they show their passports or are under 25.
You can also choose whether you are served by a cashier or if the customer passes the product through a machine.
