At least 50 killed in past 24 hours as a result of Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip

Jerusalem, August 21 (EFE) – The attacks launched by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip have left at least 50 dead and more than a hundred wounded in the past 24 hours, the health ministry controlled by the Islamic movement reported on Wednesday.

This brings the total number of dead to 40,223, most of them women and children, and the number of wounded to 92,981 during more than ten months of the Israeli attack on the Palestinian Strip.

In addition, thousands of victims are still under the rubble and scattered in the streets, without emergency and civil defense teams being able to rescue them due to the intensity of the Israeli bombing and the massive destruction.

Israeli forces carried out a violent bombardment on Tuesday, the most violent of which was one in the morning on a school in Gaza City, which left 12 dead, and the other in the afternoon on the town of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, which caused the death of at least nine people and the injury of dozens.

Until a few days ago, Deir al-Balah was the main refuge for about a million Gazans who had to flee different parts of southern Gaza due to the advance of Israeli forces and the intensification of fighting.

The army on Wednesday ordered new evacuations in part of the humanitarian zone designated by Israel in this town in the central Gaza Strip.

“For your safety, we urge you to evacuate immediately to the west. The area you are in is considered a dangerous combat zone,” said Colonel Avichay Adraee, the army’s Arabic-language spokesman, in a message posted on his account, attaching a map of the areas to be evacuated.

Last Friday, the army ordered the evacuation of the eastern part of the city, and shortly after soldiers entered the city for the first time, claiming the area was being used by Palestinian militiamen to launch rockets into Israeli territory.

So far, Deir al-Balah has not been subjected to a large-scale ground attack like the other major cities in the Palestinian Strip. The city is an important reception point for displaced persons (90% of Gaza’s population) and an operations center for many humanitarian organizations.

Continuing evacuation orders are forcing Gazans to move towards Al-Mawasi, an increasingly shrinking area considered “humanitarian,” which has not been spared the bombing either.

The current war broke out on October 7 last year after a Hamas attack on Israel that killed about 1,200 people and kidnapped 251 others. Evi
