BBVA reorganizes its global customer area by sectors: corporate and retail

Jaime Sainz de Tejada has been BBVA’s Global Chief Risk Officer since July 2021. He has developed most of his career within the Group. Among other roles, he has served as Group CFO, responsible for the Spain and Portugal business area, CEO of BBVA Banco Continental in Peru and Director of Corporate and Investment Banking for the Americas.

David Puente joined the BBVA Group in 2004, where he held various positions of responsibility, including: Director of New Business Models, Director of Planning and Development of Retail Banking for Spain and Portugal, Chief of Staff to the CEO, Director of Business Development and Transformation for Spain and Portugal, Global Chief of Data and, from April 2019 to date, Global Head of Client Solutions.

Murat Kalkan began his career at McKinsey, first in the Istanbul office and then in the New York office, where he was a key leader in McKinsey’s Leap, a consulting firm that drives digital business growth in the financial sector. In 2019, he joined BBVA’s US subsidiary as head of mortgages. Following the sale of this subsidiary to PNC in 2021, he became responsible for new digital initiatives and, most recently, director of BBVA Global Wealth Advisors, based in Miami.

José Luis Elecheguerra began his career at Procter & Gamble, and after a few years at McKinsey, he joined the BBVA Group in 2008 as Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning for BBVA’s mortgage business in Mexico. After holding other positions of responsibility in the Mexican subsidiary, in 2015 he became Global Director of Organizational Engineering and Business Processes at BBVA, then Global Director of Data Management and Head of Client Solutions at BBVA’s US subsidiary, until his appointment in 2020 as Global Head of Engineering.

Carlos Casas. After starting his career at BT in London, Carlos developed his career as a strategy consultant at McKinsey. He joined BBVA in 2010, where he managed the process reengineering unit in the area of ​​Innovation and Technology (currently Engineering) for several years. Subsequently, and after holding various positions of responsibility in the areas of Talent and Culture, Carlos was appointed Global President of the region in December 2018.

Paul J. Tobin began his career at Bloomberg in 1997, where he became chief correspondent for Spain and Portugal. In 2011, he joined BBVA Group as Director of Corporate Communications, and in 2015 was appointed Global Head of Communications.

Paula Pujols began her career at PwC and in 2003 joined the Internal Audit Department of the BBVA Group. She then held various positions of responsibility in the areas of strategy, mergers and acquisitions and investor relations, until being appointed Director of Corporate Communications in 2018.
