Toshihiro Nagoshi, a former SEGA member and founder of the Yakuza video game series, Nagoshi Studio, has introduced his new venture into the video game industry in which he serves as President and Representative Director.

Born out of a consortium with NetEase Gaems, Nagoshi Studio will be based in Tokyo, Japan and will focus on creating “high-quality” titles for consoles for worldwide release, NetEase online gaming division said in a statement.
The parent company confirmed that “Nagoshi Studio Inc. shares the same commitment with NetEase Games” to unleash the potential of creators in an open and inclusive environment, hoping to reach and connect with passionate gamers around the world with engaging, high-quality content.

At the helm of the new project is Toshihiro Nagoshi, who will assume the positions of President and Representative Director. His career has been associated with SEGA since 1989, where he held related positions, such as the company’s COO in 2011. His most famous highlight to date has been the president of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (2005), a SEGA-affiliated developer responsible for video games such as Yakuza. and Lost Judgment.
In October 2021, he announced his withdrawal from SEGA, although he did not confirm his future steps. “By leaving SEGA, I am also leaving my position as president of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Thank you to the fans who have supported us and the Yakuza series for so many years,” Nagoshi said in a statement announcing the team’s restructuring.

The professionals who make up the team appear on the website for this project. They include Daisuke Sato, who is listed as a producer; art designers Kazuki Hosokawa, Naoki Sumiya, and Tohishiro Ando; Or programmer Koji Tokeida. Additionally, engineer Mitsunori Fujimoto joined the study; Taichi Ushioda, who stands out as a director; and game designer Masao Shirosaki.
At the moment, Nagoshi Studio has not released any video game title and has not reported on the projects it is currently working on.
