Camagüey.- The world heritage of humanity, inherited by generations in monuments and places of world history, celebrates its day as a memory of human society for all times. Camagüey, which has long been committed to saving this material history, celebrated today, April 18, the World Day of Monuments and Historic Sites, held under the theme of Resilient Heritage in the Face of Disaster and Conflict in the Agramonte Park, where the most relevant sculpture collection in the province is located.
Yanela Céspedes Basulto, Director of the Regional Monuments Commission, presented an honorary tribute to the Office of the City Historian for its continuous presence and support for the rescue and preservation of the material heritage that characterizes the city.
Camaguey is one of the regions with the largest number of monuments and historical sites in urban and rural areas in the country, shaped by its fruitful history. Thus they bring together obelisks, sculptural groups, commemorative plaques, symbolic medals and busts as they create the present memory of events that in the past have enhanced the material and cultural consciousness of our citizens today.
