Less than a year separates us from the 2024 Copa America, and some details are already known. The tournament will be held in the United States for the second time in history and, as expected, will put on a great show. 16 teams will play, a fact that has only one precedent (2016).
And as if that weren’t enough, the tournament’s new image was presented on Monday at an event at the foundation’s headquarters in Luque, Paraguay. Alejandro Dominguez, the president of CONMEBOL, was responsible for revealing the details of the new Copa America logo that will start in June next year.
“Today we start the oldest national team tournament in the world. My job as president of CONMEBOL is to conquer and create new heights for the South American championship, our players and our fans, this is how we created this new tournament with the help of CONCACAF, but this time, with 16 teams,” Dominguez explained while presenting the motto.

“It is about fusion and tradition, bringing together the essence of South American football and the spirit of the North American continent. I want to thank everyone involved in creating this new identity and, at the same time, invite football fans to join and go to the United States,” he explained.
CONCACAF, which will now have 6 qualifiers, is represented by its president, Victor Montagliani, who promised in a video that this would be a starting point for better tournaments and the joint development of football in countries belonging to the confederations.
“This announcement will take a positive step towards what will be an exciting competition next year. I know that through our cooperation we will be able to develop both men’s and women’s football around the world,” CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani said through a video during the protocol ceremony.
How are CONCACAF national teams ranked?
This will be the second time that 16 teams will participate in the Copa América. The ten countries that belong to CONMEBOL have guaranteed quotas.
However, as Dominguez explained, the other six cards for tournament play will be played in the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League. The commitments will be played at the FIFA dates of September, October and November 2023.
