Corey Taylor, Slipknot singer, shared a video in which he explained to his fans the reason he decided to cancel all of his North American tour dates: his mental health. (via NME)
The singer decided to cancel all his dates in North America to rest, focus on his mental health, and spend more time with his family. However, by spring, the singer will be back in action, performing four shows in Asia between March and April.
But there were many fans who wondered why the musician was canceling his US dates and then announcing other dates in other countries. This prompted the musician to take to his Instagram account to provide related clarifications: “The truth is, I understand why a lot of you are upset. I will break it down so you can understand. “Last year, I had a complete and complete breakdown of boundaries, mental health, and ego, for the entire past nine years in a very real relapse.”
“I don't know myself anymore. Again, I wanted to take that topic and tell people that I need time to reset myself, I need time to start working on my heart, my mind and getting myself straight. The reason why I'm keeping the Southeast Asia tour consists of literally four shows, It takes literally a week. I'll see how it goes and take it day by day, basically. “
“I am now working on my self-care, getting the help I need and surrounding myself with my family. To everyone who cares about me, thank you so much, I appreciate it. “To anyone upset, I hope this answers your questions.”
“Right now I'm doing what's best for me. It's a long road and I don't know what it is at the end, but I'm looking forward to it, I'm grateful for that and I hope you can show me some things. Patience.”
Taylor actually spoke out, a few months ago, about her battle with post-traumatic stress. Not in vain in his new album “CMF2“There's a song called”Post-traumatic blues“, in which Tayor sings about his thoughts.
“It was one of those songs where I didn't want it to just be about me and my experience: I wanted it to serve as a bridge between people with PTSD and those who are desperately trying to understand the nuances of what people go through,” he said. He explains. “It's one of the reasons it tears families apart and goes undiagnosed for so many years – we never learn about the variety of symptoms and problems that come with it.”
