The Ministry of Health Today, Sunday, October 2, Mensa reported that a total of 216,596 people have died from COVID-19 in the country. With this number, the number of deaths from the deadly virus in Peru increased by 10. In addition, 253 infections were recorded in the past week (111 cases in the past 24 hours), bringing the total number of infected people to 4.145301.

Mensa also reported that there are a total of 562 patients in hospital, of whom 124 are on mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Vaccinations in Peru

So far, Peru has received vaccinations from Sinopharm, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna. All of these are being implemented as per the programs by age groups set by the government after giving priority to health workers, seniors, members of the national police, armed forces and firefighters.

Immunization began in Peru in February 2021, after the first batch of vaccines arrived from China (Sinopharm). To date, vaccination continues throughout the country.

From 25 September 2022, children under 5 years of age (6 months to 4 years with 11 months and older) are vaccinated. Vaccination for this population has taken place in the regions as of Monday, September 26.

So far, the third dose is given to people 12 years of age or older. The fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is also applied to people over 18 years of age.
