CCSS Medical Director – responsible for public health here -, Randall Alvarez, stressed that vaccination on time, throughout life, is essential because it helps protect against diseases that can be fatal.
He stressed that there are many diseases, such as polio and rubella, that are now controlled thanks to vaccinations, so it is important that we keep vaccination schedules updated, especially in the smallest of the house.
After remembering that vaccinations are important, Álvarez advocated keeping immunizations up to date and completing basic plans, because this timely measure during childhood is essential, to help the body create defenses to fight deadly diseases; In addition to being an effective and safe tool to maintain the health of children.
Interim Minister of Health Alexei Carrillo emphasized that vaccination is necessary for humans at all times; He added that it is an indisputable human right to reach them and an incalculable investment for all countries seeking prosperity.
For his part, the representative of the Pan American Health Organization / WHO in Costa Rica, Alfonso Tenorio, commented that the Vaccination Week in the Americas is a very important celebration because it was in this region that this initiative was born 21 years ago.
He pointed out that the celebration this year has several goals, including promoting the acceptance and application of vaccines at all ages, as well as preserving regional goals to eliminate and restore diseases that can be prevented through immunization.
He stressed that the Vaccination Week in the Americas is a strategy to complement the efforts of national immunization programs, which are the first line of defense against disease outbreaks and prevent about 174,000 deaths of children under the age of five every year in the region. .
The Health Portfolio announced that CCSS health institutions across the country will develop various strategies to motivate people to take advantage of the framework of this celebration and complete their protection plan.
