In his address to the tenth special session of the General Assembly, Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, drew attention to the historical injustice that prevents the Palestinian people from participating in equal rights before the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. website.
The memorandum reveals that the largest of the Antilles islands supported and co-sponsored the draft resolution approved by the General Assembly last Friday, which recognizes that Palestine fulfills the conditions for membership in the United Nations.
The Cuban representative added that the State of Palestine is recognized today by 144 countries, and this number is constantly increasing.
Subsequently, Soberon Guzmán called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories, and demanded an end to violence and war rhetoric.
He also called for the rapid and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
The Antillean diplomat condemned in the strongest terms the killing of civilians, especially women, children and humanitarian workers in the United Nations system.
At the end of his speech, Soberon Guzmán stressed that Cuba will continue to participate to the maximum extent possible in legal international efforts to end the barbarism suffered by the Palestinians.
