The National Elections Council explained today, Saturday, that a total of 745 observers have been accredited for these elections, including 666 national and 79 international observers.

The head of the Electoral Commission, Diana Al-Tamanit, also confirmed that the process of printing ballot papers for popular consultation and referendum was 100 percent complete.

The insurance also explained that electoral packages for this election, which will be held on April 21 here, have been delivered in eight provinces in the Andean country.

On Tuesday, the National Elections Commission approved five companies to conduct opinion polls in the elections, and reminded that the published information will serve as estimated forecasts because the electoral administrative body is solely responsible for announcing the results.

About 13 million Ecuadorians will have to answer questions that may involve amendments to the constitution.

President Noboa seeks to reform current laws related to the armed forces' control of weapons and ammunition, as well as the classification of weapons possession crimes and increased penalties for terrorism or organized crime.

Other issues raised in the consultation relate to the abolition of the ban on extradition of citizens and the inclusion of judicial bodies specialized in constitutional matters.

The Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity – Ecuador Branch considers that the popular poll and referendum in this South American country is unjustified.
