League Cup
When the League Cup asked Emilio Estefan to produce this year’s tournament anthem, the famous producer and composer knew exactly what he wanted to portray with this song.
“My idea was to create something that was important to me, which was to show unity and different cultures,” says Estefan. painting On the writing and production of “Our Colors,” the official anthem of the 2024 League Cup. “That’s why I had artists from different cultures, to represent the unity among us Latinos and really show our diverse colors.”
The upbeat song, loaded with powerful beats and horns, features Mexican mariachi star Cristian Nodal, Argentine singer Abel Pintos, Cuban-American producer and multi-instrumentalist Emilio Estefan (daughter of Emilio and Gloria Estefan), and Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo. Colombian singer and songwriter José, and from Panama, lead singer of the band Rapanis, Emilio Reguera.
Estevan created a global sound that reflects the international appeal of the tournament and the diversity of the teams. The League Cup approached other producers, but “they came back with something very local, something very Mexican or very Colombian,” explains Estefan. “I told them, ‘Let me try this,’ and I produced a song that matches what I do. I mix sounds. I’ve been doing it since Miami Sound Machine. We became famous because we combined cultures and sounds.”
The annual League Cup is an international soccer tournament involving clubs from Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Mexican Liga MX. Lionel Messi Inter Miami is the defending champion. He confirms that this is the team that Estevan, who lives in Miami, is rooting for this year. “Inter Miami has brought a lot of unity to Miami,” says the musician. “When you go to a game, you see people from all over the world.”
Shortly after the end of the Copa America, the soccer tournament currently held in the United States, the 2024 League Cup will begin on July 26, with all matches being played in the United States and Canada.
