LAS VEGAS — This weekend, March 1-3, you can explore the night sky during the Dark Sky Spring Festival, held annually in Death Valley National Park.
“During our annual spring Dark Sky Festival, we invite visitors to explore the park’s night skies and unique landscapes that can help us better understand the wonders that lie beyond our own world,” the festival description on the portal says. www.nps.gov.
This California national park, located just a few miles from Nevada, offers some of the best stargazing views in the United States.
In fact, the International Dark Skies Association has rated Death Valley National Park a Gold-level dark sky park, the highest rating for darkness.
This astronomical event is made possible through a partnership between the Death Valley Natural History Society, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Ames Research Center, SETI Institute, and the California Institute of Technology.
