The meeting was held in the Yellow House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the Bolivarian Republic, Iván Gil, and Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, the African country, in addition to other officials from both countries.
Gil noted that Caracas and Ouagadougou have made progress in technical cooperation in recent years, with more than 22 draft agreements in various sectors having been signed.
The senior Venezuelan diplomat expressed his government's confidence in achieving cooperation agreements in various fields, with a focus on the mining, copper and industrial sectors, with the aim of transforming the strategic alliance into a model of progress that must be followed.
He commented that Venezuela, as a petroleum country, has a great interest in strengthening the energy and mining field with Burkina Faso, and stressed that it is a major producer and exporter of gold in Africa.
The senior Bolivarian diplomat noted that eight students from that African country are currently studying at the Dr. Salvador Allende School of Latin American Medicine in Caracas, thanks to the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Foundation.
He stressed Venezuela's readiness to “immediately increase” the possibility of receiving more students from Burkina Faso, in the fields of comprehensive community medicine and other areas of strategic interest, as well as sending young Venezuelans to the African country as an exchange.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso expressed his appreciation for the cooperation as very important and ratified the commitment to strengthening good relations of friendship and cooperation with the South American country.
On the same day, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Traoré and her accompanying delegation, consisting of Sano William, Special Advisor to the President of Burkina Faso, and Aminata Sano Congo, Ambassador to Brasilia, were received in the presence of Venezuela.
The authorities announced that the first joint committee will conclude its work tomorrow by signing important cooperation agreements.
