Europe has begun to reduce military aid to Ukraine and it is “down to almost zero,” according to a report from the Institute for World Economics in Kiel, Germany, broadcast by RT today.
The text specifies that in July, no large EU country, such as France, Germany or Italy, took on significant new commitments to provide military support to KIF.
The entity stressed that “the data indicates that European countries pledged only last month about 1.5 billion euros in military aid, which is a significant decrease compared to the month of April or May.”
In this regard, the document says that most of the new commitments come from one country, Norway, which has promised financial cooperation worth 1 billion euros.
The report also shows that the authorities in Paris, Madrid and Rome have so far provided very little military support to Ukraine, and remain largely ambiguous about their assistance.
In this sense, the director of the Kiel Institute Research Center, Christoph Trebisch, stated that although no new assistance was provided, donor governments provided a portion of already committed support, such as weapons systems.
Similarly, the Telegraph columnist and retired British army officer, Richard Kemp, had stated the day before that the lack of success in counter-attack attempts by the Ukrainian armed forces in Donbass and Kherson province over the next three months would mean that the Western allies would reduce support for the Kyiv authorities.
Likewise, he added, winter will have a greater strategic impact on the conflict, and “Kyiv is likely to be the losing side,” he said.
“Ukraine has little time left to change the situation on the battlefield, because winter will play in Russia’s favor, given the dependence of European countries on Russian energy supplies,” Kemp added.
The United States, the European Union and other Western countries have so far delivered weapons worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Ukraine.
In particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently announced that Berlin is supplying the Kyiv with too new weapons for the German army to use.
For its part, Russia maintains its accusation of Western powers undermining the resolution of the conflict by supplying the Ukrainian government with more and more weapons, including long-range systems.
