The incident occurred at a shopping mall in Vinh Yen city, and two South Korean nationals were among the injured, VNA news agency reported when it released the information.
All the injured were immediately transferred to Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital, and the six serious cases, including the two South Koreans, were later referred to Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital in the capital.
The source indicated that immediately after the accident, the competent forces headed to the scene to investigate the case.
According to a report released here last week, the number of fires and resulting deaths in Vietnam increased in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2023.
From January to June, 2,222 accidents were reported across the country, killing 57 people and injuring 45 others, according to the Vietnam Police Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue.
Most of the fires (1,343) occurred in urban areas, and the most common type was in residential areas, with 823 incidents recorded. In the same period, 125 forest fires occurred, destroying 529 hectares.
Of the more than 2,200 fires extinguished, up to 1,299 were investigated and the main causes were determined to be electrical faults and the careless use of heat sources.
