From Necochea to the World Cup: A historic hockey player seeks support in New Zealand

Must Read

In Negochia, Patricia “Bato” Caravone has been known for her love and dedication to hockey since she was 10 years old. Although he never wore a Los Leones shirt, his talent and dedication were recognized throughout an illustrious playing career. Now, Pado faces the opportunity of a lifetime: representing Argentina at the World Masters Hockey Tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.

Selected by the Argentina Hockey Masters & Grandmasters Association, Pato was invited to compete in the Ladies +55B division. However, lack of financial resources stands in the way of this goal. Her daughter Guillermina, inspired by her mother’s dedication and passion, started a campaign to raise funds to enable Pado to travel and compete with honors.

“Bado deserves that World Cup, but unfortunately we don’t have enough resources to finance his trip”, Guillermina explains. As a health worker in Negochia Municipality, Pato’s salary did not match his dedication and commitment. “The municipality does not provide incentives to our local athletes, so we rely on community solidarity.“Adds Guillermina.

The campaign seeks not only to collect financial support, but also to spread Pato’s story to reach as many people as possible to cooperate. “If 3,000 people donate $1,000 each, we can make sure Pado will be in New Zealand representing our country”Guillermina highlights. In addition, Bado is willing to give interviews and share more about his experiences and motivations for competing in this international event.

“To many it may seem insignificant, but for us it represents the fulfillment of a dream and the opportunity to say goodbye to the game he loves so much at the top”Guillermina concludes. “Any help, funds or spreading her story, means a lot to us. We want to see my mother happy and fulfill her dream of playing in the World Cup.”
