Giulito and the Cheats led the White Sox to the win vs. Orioles

Must Read

BALTIMORE – Lucas Giolito delivered impressively in the seventh inning, Gavin Sheets responded twice with bases loaded, and Yoon Moncada played an amazing double-double as the Chicago White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 on Wednesday.

Giulito (10-7) allowed one and four strokes in 6 2/3 innings. He rebounded from last week’s performance, which allowed seven in three runs against Houston.

Kendall Grafman was helped out of congestion as the house was full in the seventh inning, thanks to Cuban Moncada’s interference at third base.

With bases loaded, one out, and Chicago 3-1, Jorge Mateo was grounded straight to third base. Moncada reached to the right to catch the ball and, while doing so, touched the base with his bare hand.

Then he threw first to complete the double play.

The Sheets led three rounds for Chicago, which were four games behind Cleveland leaders El Central. The Orioles remained 2 1/2 games away from their last championship place in the playoffs.

The loss went to Spencer Watkins (4-4).

For the White Sox, Cuban Luis Robert scored 4-1 in one inning, Jose Abreu 4-2, and Moncada 5-0. Venezuelan Elvis Andros 4-1 game record.

For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander 4-0, Rogned Odor 3-0, Robinson Chirinos 2-0. Mexican Ramon Urillas 3-0. Dominican Mateo 3-0.
