Today, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived at Windhoek International Airport, Hosea Kutako, in Namibia, on an official visit.
In the afternoon, the Cuban president is expected to attend, as guest of honor, the 33rd National Celebration of Heroes’ Day, at the Independence Stadium in the capital.
On this occasion, the President of Namibia, Elhadj Geingob, will deliver keynote addresses.
Heroes’ Day in this country is recognized by the United Nations as Namibia Day. It honors those who lost their lives in the war of national independence, which began on that date in 1966, and to which Cuba contributed its international military support.
Geingob this morning on the X network, formerly known as Twitter, expressed his satisfaction at welcoming his Cuban counterpart.
“We honor our brothers and sisters in Cuba for their heroic sacrifices that led to our freedom,” the Namibian president wrote.
The Cuban president in Namibia is crowned with a tour that led him in this capacity to Angola and Mozambique, as well as as head of the Group of 77 and China, to South Africa to participate in the fifteenth BRICS summit.
