He said that this visit is of great importance, covered a broad agenda and left many important results, including the preparation of a joint press release containing eight main contents highlighting the progress of bilateral relations since the elevation to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, in 2022.
He added that the document also includes specific measures to enhance cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, science and technology, culture, tourism, labor issues, people-to-people exchanges and new areas of cooperation.
Thanh Son also highlighted the fact that during the trip, ministries, sectors and companies from both sides signed 40 cooperation agreements in digital transformation, renewable energy, green transformation, climate change, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, culture and tourism, among other areas.
Secondly, the Vietnamese head of diplomacy expressed his appreciation that the visit contributed to enhancing mutual political trust and promoting close relations between senior leaders of both sides, who confirmed their determination to promote substantial, effective and lasting bilateral strategic development.
He pointed out that Vietnam and South Korea have identified the economy as one of the most important pillars of their relationship and have agreed to implement specific measures to achieve the goal of reaching $100 billion in trade exchange in 2025 and $150 billion in 2030 soon.
He also pointed out that the community of about 300,000 Vietnamese living in South Korea and 200,000 South Koreans living in Indochina, along with 90,000 multicultural families, constitute a positive factor in promoting close bilateral relations.
According to VNA, South Korean leaders stressed that Vietnam is the focus of their foreign policy in the region, including the Indo-Pacific strategy and the South Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative.
For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commented on Hanoi’s support for South Korea’s development policies and goals, including the “global key country” policy.
He announced that the two countries agreed to enhance cultural, tourism and educational cooperation with the aim of achieving the goal of five million people participating in people-to-people exchanges.
Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit, which lasted from June 30 to July 3, was the first by a high-ranking Vietnamese official to South Korea since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2022.
