Milwaukee — William Contreras scored and doubled, Sal Frelick drove in three runs and the Milwaukee Brewers took advantage of San Diego’s pitcher control problems to beat the Padres 10-6 on Sunday for their eighth straight win.
Milwaukee led for good by scoring seven runs in the sixth inning, equaling their most productive runs of the season. The Brewers scored five runs in one walk, including one off Carlos Santana for a walk-off.
The Brewers also had a seven-inning game on April 3 against the New York Mets and on May 14 against Kansas City.
San Diego responded with two runs in the seventh and tied the game at the board with no outs before Hobie Milner walked off the bullpen to protect the lead 9-6 with the retirements of Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts, respectively.
Milwaukee completed a three-game series sweep of the Padres and extended their longest streak of the year. The Brewers lead the NL Central by four games over the Chicago Cubs heading into a three-game series that begins Monday at Wrigley Field.
