Ibsal celebrates Occupational Health Day focusing on the hospitality sector

The Balearic Institute for Occupational Health (Ibassal) held an Occupational Health Day focusing on the hospitality industry with the aim of raising awareness and promoting good practices to improve and facilitate the work of employees in this sector.

This initiative was born from an agreement signed between Ibassal and Asepeyo to promote the prevention of occupational hazards, reduce workplace accidents, reduce ergonomic risks and musculoskeletal disorders for workers in the sector and, ultimately, improve workers’ working conditions. this group.

During the day, the ergonomic study carried out on working conditions in hotel accommodation to reduce musculoskeletal disorders was presented, good practices were promoted with the proposal to integrate automated trolleys, and a practical case was explained to show the advantages of using this type of technology.

To develop the day’s programme, there was a presentation entitled “Occupational diseases of housekeepers”, given by Raphael Palmer, Head of the Health Surveillance Team at IBASAL; With a demonstration of a practical case of a cleaning cart, explained by the ergonomics expert of the Prevention Department of Ecebio, Juan Luis Rodríguez, and finally, with a practical case of a motorized cart taught by the Director of the Risk at Work Prevention Service of Iberostar and Lucas Riquelme and María Antonia Oliver, Prevention Service Technicians of the hotel chain.

On the other hand, the day also included an exhibition of technological devices designed to improve the working conditions of those people carrying out their tasks in the hospitality industry.

In addition to being able to test out a robotic vehicle, powered by wheels driven by an electric motor and controlled by a remote control, event attendees will be able to see different types of MOCAP (motion capture) technology live; assistive devices called exoskeletons; Audio cameras that allow you to identify various sources of noise in the workplace; Virtual reality devices and games, and a firefighting model that reproduces the behavior of smoke and toxic gases inside a burning building.
