Local media highlighted that Stoyanos recently took part in police action following President Rumen Radev’s decision not to sign a decree appointing a new technical government.
The leader of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, Boyko Borisud, said he had urged President Radev and Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev to dismiss Stoyanov.
According to him, it is necessary to choose another candidate to be able to run in the parliamentary elections as soon as possible, because it is unacceptable for a minister to participate in a procedure before the presidential administration.
Commenting on the situation with Radev’s refusal to sign a decree on the formation of a technical government headed by Goritsa Grincharova-Kozaryeva, Borisov noted that the decision was premature.
He noted that he was in a hurry, without listening to the recommendation of the head of state, who did not approve of Stoyanov’s re-election to the post of head of the Interior Ministry.
Co-chair of the Continuation of Change party, Asen Vasiliev, welcomed the GERB party’s initiative to resign from Stoyanov.
The behaviour of the interior minister is completely unacceptable. He added that the police had organised a political protest during working hours that should have been neutral.
Last day, Stoyanov accused the president’s administration of putting pressure on the executive branch, telling reporters that many politicians, with the president’s support, were doing everything they could to prevent him from remaining at the head of the ministry.
