Governor Hochul announced the awards during a visit to VIP community services In the Bronx on Wednesday. Since 1974, VIP has operated a clinic providing integrated, family-centered services for mental illness and substance use disorders, including crisis intervention and care coordination services.
With the first locations established in New York in 2017, these clinics provide comprehensive services and coordinate care across the physical and behavioral health and social services systems. These clinics provide care to anyone who needs help with mental health or substance abuse issues, regardless of ability to pay, place of residence, or age.
These clinics connect people or directly provide crisis mental health services, including 24-hour mobile crisis teams, emergency crisis intervention, and crisis stabilization; Screening and evaluations; Patient-centered treatment planning; and outpatient mental health and substance abuse services.
