Israel confiscates more Palestinian lands in the West Bank

The head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Moayed Shaaban, said in a statement that the “confiscation orders” aim to pave the way for Jewish settlers.

He stressed that these actions violate all international laws and norms that order the occupying state not to make changes on the ground.

He warned that “what appears from the outside as infrastructure and road development (…) is nothing more than a means of dividing Palestinian geography.”

At the beginning of April, the committee warned that since the beginning of the current cycle of violence, on October 7, Israel had confiscated 27,000 dunums of Palestinian land (2,700 hectares).

It was determined that of this number, 15 thousand dunams (1,500 hectares) were stolen after amending the boundaries of the natural reserves in Jericho and the Jordan Valley.

He confirmed that another 11,100 dunums (just over a thousand hectares) were allocated through three orders declaring state lands for areas in the Jerusalem and Nablus governorates, and 230 dunums through 24 seizure orders, for military purposes.

He revealed that Israel occupies 2,380 square kilometers of Palestine, equivalent to 42% of the total territory of the West Bank.

The Central Bureau of Statistics indicated last March that Israel confiscated 50,526 dunums of Palestinian land (just over five thousand hectares) in 2023, almost double the number from the previous year.

He confirmed that last year the state issued 32 seizure orders for about 619 dunums, four of which were to confiscate the equivalent of 433 dunums and two to declare state lands for about 515 dunums.

He also issued a decree with four amendments to the boundaries of natural reserves, allowing them to seize 48,959 dunums, as part of a systematic and continuous policy to control all Palestinian lands, according to what he criticized.
