Ramallah, February 7 (Prensa Latina) Journalist Zakaria Fathi Abu Ghali was martyred in an Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, bringing to 124 the number of workers in the Strip who were martyred there since last October, the official Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported today.

The source indicated that in the attack that occurred the day before yesterday on a house in the city of Rafah in the south of the country, the caller’s mother and sister were also killed.

Hours ago, the coastal Gaza Strip authorities reported the killing of the director of the Palestinian Information Center in the Gaza Strip, Rizq al-Gharabli, in a similar incident.

At the end of last month, Palestinian journalist Issam Al-Lulu, his wife and two children were also martyred in an Israeli bombing that targeted the city of Al-Zawaida in the central Gaza Strip.

Earlier this year, the Palestinian Journalists Union warned that 25 journalists from Gaza needed urgent medical treatment abroad.

The Foundation called on the international community to put pressure on the far-right government of Benjamin Netanyahu to force it to facilitate the departure of these people.

This week, the union denounced the Israeli security forces committing 135 attacks and violations against the Gaza Strip during the month of January, including the killing of 14 journalists.

Recently, the organization urged the United Nations and international institutions to protect journalism workers in the sector.

Its president, Nasser Abu Bakr, sent a letter of protest to the United Nations offices in this city to denounce the crimes committed against media professionals in that region.
