The Chilean national team’s two friendlies against New Zealand have been moved a day to accommodate the Florida Bicentennial celebrations.
The September FIFA date is approaching. Between September 18 and 26, a new selection window will take place and La Roja will have two challenges, which are already scheduled against New Zealand, one of the hosts of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The New Zealand players will travel to Chile to face the Luis Mena-led team. This Thursday, the ANFP confirmed the change in the date, venue and time of the La Roja friendlies. One of them is public and open on the main grounds, while the other is behind closed doors.
The Chilean national team will host New Zealand on Saturday, September 23 from 7:00pm at the Bicentenario Stadium in La Florida. The idea is to play both matches in Santiago to avoid transfers. Tickets are still on sale and Sylevision will be broadcasting the first friendly in association with Paramount+.
The second friendly against New Zealand will be played on Tuesday, September 26 at 10:00 am. The location is yet to be confirmed, but all indications are that it will be at Quill’s Sports Complex. The reality is that it will be behind closed doors with no access to the public.
Both matches will be the Chilean national team’s last preparation before the Pan American Games. Between October 22 and November 3, the national teams will play against Jamaica, Paraguay and a CONCACAF rival in the Santiago 2023 Women’s Football Tournament in the Valparaiso region.
